ARTS CARNIVAL WORKSHOPS
7 July – 8 August 2008
The always popular Arts Carnival at Aberdeen Arts Centre encourages participation in all the Arts. There is a range of Workshops to entice your little stars and starlets (and your older drama queens and kings!) into Drama, Dance, Art, Music, Comedy, Drumming and Chanter, Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Clowning, Singing and much more. Our professional tutors make these workshops an inspiring experience for all.
In response to feedback from last year we have introduced a healthy option snack, bookable and payable in advance. (50p per session – see booking form)
Workshop fees are £6.50 per session or save by buying five sessions for the same workshop at the bargain price of £30.
There are week-long courses culminating in informal performances or exhibitions for parents and friends.
Please note that we cannot take bookings by phone and payments can only be made in cash or by cheque
Places are limited so book early and come along any time or every time! Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the workshop.

Disney Dazzle
Tutor - Laura Jarret
It's going to be 'Music Music Music' all the way for 4-6 yr olds in this fun-packed session of Disney favourites old and new, from Pinocchio to Hannah Montana -they'll all be there! There will also be a performance at the end of the week for mums and dads to enjoy.

Stagestruck
Tutor - Rhonda Scott
A workshop full of fun, drama, dance and song! This action - packed class for primary school age children will culminate in a performance for family and friends at the end of the week.

Clay Capers
Tutor - Alison Watson
Using air drying clay, explore a variety of methods to make your own clay creations to take home. The only restriction is your imagination. Once your objects are dry you can paint them and coat with varnish to protect them. Wear old clothes or bring an apron; this could get messy!

More Disney Dazzle
Tutor - Laura Jarret
Another singing, dancing and action-packed session for 4-6 yrs enjoying more Disney favourites. This session (different to the morning) will be centred round other hits old and new. So why not come to both for twice as much fun! This will also build up to a performance at the end of the week.

We’ve Got Talent!

Can you sing, dance, play a musical instrument or indeed, have you a hidden talent no-one knows about? If so, this is the workshop for you. Aimed at secondary school age, this is a platform for you to exploit your existing talents and explore some new ones culminating in an exciting showcase for parents and friends at the end of the week.

More Clay Capers

Mobile Menagerie

Make flying birds and creeping animals with wire, fabric, paper, feathers, beads, and whatever else you can find –a real inventive workshop!

Jungle Gymnastics

During this week you will learn basic gymnastic floor skills and bring them into a jungle theme. You will also be working on flexibility and balance through dance. Participants should wear a t-shirt and shorts and bring a bottle of water.

Musical Theatre

"Follow the Yellow Brick Road!" - A Scarecrow, a Lion, A Tin Man and of course -the Ruby Slippers! Come with us as we take a journey to Oz meeting good and bad witches on the way and a wizard who has a wicked twist! A drama, movement and music workshop for primary school aged children with a performance at the end of the week.

Summer Pantomime There is nothing like a dame!

Have a thigh - slapping week exploring the world of pantomime. Learn the comedy techniques, tradition and characters and perform a specially written summer pantomime at the end of the week.

Funny Business!

During this week we will learn some clown tricks, become comedians and laugh! We will discover how to make objects come alive and we will travel anywhere and everywhere through mime. At the end of the week we will show our family and friends what we have discovered on our journey. Come along and enjoy the fun with a clown teacher.
